  • Do you want to see flamingos?

Map Reservation

Flamingo colonies can be spotted along the "river" or lagoon between the mainland and the sandbar. Lagarto is lizard in Spanish. The name of this area was given by Spaniards because of the crocodiles they saw in the area.

Today, there are very few crocodiles left. After a one-hour boat ride from San Felipe, we will reach the mudflats that host a pink expanse of thousands of flamingos, especially during the summer breeding season. To prevent disturbing the mating flamingos, some areas are closed to tourists. In other areas you can find a wide variety of other birds such as herons, ibises, ducks, egrets, and pelicans.
